About the Role

The Facilities and Land Technician works with the Facilities and Land Department

(FLD) team and Ranch volunteers to ensure the maintenance and improvement of

The Bishop’s Ranch facilities, grounds and wildlands.

Responsibilities

Maintain grounds, trails, and backcountry campsite.

● Planted areas, lawns and gardens

● Irrigation systems

● Trails


Maintain interior and exteriors of buildings

● Plumbing and septic systems

● Electrical systems

● Walls, ceilings and floo

● Furniture


Prepare The Ranch for guest use

● Blowing grounds and walkways

● Service requests as designated


Supervise and work alongside volunteers


Complete other facility and grounds projects as assigned.

Qualifications

Basic knowledge of, or ability to learn:

● Safe use of hand and power tools

● Lawnmowers and landscaping equipment

● Painting and preparation for painting

● Carpentry, electrical and plumbing


Other Qualifications: 

● With initial direction, able to complete tasks alone

● Ability to move easily around 363 acre Ranch with varied terrain

● Able to lift 60 pounds unassisted

● Able to lift 80 pounds with assistance

● Able to work one weekend day

● Sensitivity to cultural and religious practices of Ranch guests

● Ability to be flexible in job duties

Compensation

Starting at $24/hour

The mission of the Ranch is to share a place of rare beauty through hospitality that


nourishes the spirit, body, and mind.


We fulfill the mission of the Ranch by providing hospitality for retreats, conferences,

and other gatherings to groups and individuals from the Diocese of California, other


churches, and non-profit groups. Our goal is to provide these services in a personal

and relaxed but efficient way that enables guests to reach their goals for spiritual,

personal, and organizational growth.

Working at The Bishop’s Ranch is service-oriented, and doing our jobs successfully is

based on teamwork. Because of the wide-ranging nature of the tasks involved in

caring for our guests and facilities, it may be necessary to perform tasks outside our

usual line of work. The flexibility to help in different situations in order to support our

guests and the overall goals of the Ranch is a requirement of working at The

Bishop’s Ranch.
