The Treehouse Project Fund

We are currently planning to create a new treehouse to replace the much loved and much missed former treehouse.

Volunteers have come forward to help with the work, and assist in raising the funds to build the new treehouse. This project is not included in the Ranch’s annual operating budget, so additional funds must be raised to complete it.

If you or members of your family have enjoyed the treehouse, would you please consider making a donation to the project?

The original treehouse goes back to the time the Franciscan brothers managed the Ranch in the 1970’s. Over the years it became a favorite part of the Ranch and an important refuge. Hundreds of parents have heard their excited children pipe the words, “Can we go to the treehouse?” immediately upon arrival. The walk down the trail and through Keepo Creek canyon to the old oak is a beloved ritual.

In 2009 it became apparent that the beautiful coast live oak that hosts the treehouse is a host itself to bark beetles and fungus. Tree experts were consulted and their advice was that the current treehouse area should be closed. Subsequently the treehouse was removed from the tree as limbs began to die.
