El Rancho del Obispo Endowment Fund

Sitting in an Adirondack chair on the lawn by the Chapel, looking out over the valley and hills, have you ever had the wish that a family member or friend would be able to enjoy this same beauty and peace?

The Ranch has an endowment fund designed for that purpose.

You may never have considered that the Ranch has roofs on 22 buildings, or fourteen complex heating systems. And what about 10 refrigerators, a commercial walk-in refrigerator, and three commercial freezers? How about over five miles of developed trails, 106 mattress and box spring sets, thousands of square feet of carpeting, hundreds of chairs and tables, two generators, a John Deere tractor, three pick-up trucks and three mowers? These items are a small fraction of the building components, furnishings and equipment that are necessary for the Ranch to fulfill its mission to be a place of renewal for spirit, mind and body. All these things and much more must be repaired, restored or replaced on a schedule, so the Ranch is open and ready for use.

The El Rancho del Obispo Endowment Fund is a critical part of the Ranch’s future because it is a resource that will help protect the Ranch facilities and land over time. The endowment fund is money that has been donated by farseeing people to be invested so that the growth of the investments will support the mission of the Ranch. The fund, which contains just over $1,800,000 from substantial gifts and bequests, is carefully managed by a special committee to provide annual income for Ranch upkeep. The funds are responsibly invested in managed ESG funds. Thanks to the vision and generosity of the late Ven. John J. Weaver, the Endowment Fund was seeded in 1999 and now bears fruit with an annual interest and dividend only distribution of $90,000. This means that, while the Ranch receives benefit of funds to do improvement and repair work, the Endowment Fund principle remains intact for future growth.

A gift to the fund will help thousands of people over generations to enjoy the gifts of beautiful, peaceful surroundings and the priceless gift of community in a sacred place. Gifts to the fund may be made in many ways to provide tax benefit to the donor:
